KaQin in supermarket (by Alex)
Another drawing of my baby niece. She's wearing the dress I bought her from Zara in Cologne, and I am pretty sure she will not fit in the dress in a year time. But that of course won't stop me from getting her more dresses in the future ^^ Since I am pampering her forever, I am only getting good designers' stuff, stuff I could only dream of having when I was little(not that I knew what they were or if I would appreciate them anyway).
I took a little longer this time because I wasn't feeling too well these few days, maybe sleep deprived, I am not sure. But I am adding more steps this time because I couldn't do as much at one go, and I needed to rest almost every half an hour. Getting old maybe? -_-;;
And as I told Dan and Raena earlier that I would do something with my kneadable eraser. I didn't put a lot of effort in this one, but here's a skull ^^

ReplyDeleteand i love the kneadable eraser... so cool!
She is so sweet! Very nice drawing!... and fun sculpture :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful portrait :) All girls should have pretty dresses- what a great uncle you are :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the kneadable eraser- mine has only ever become Gumby, this is so much cooler LOL
Absolutely beautiful portrait! I love the way you included all of the extras this time - full body, shelving, mirror - you can really see the shine. The wrinkles in the dress are amazing!
ReplyDeleteBut to heck with all that! I thought the kneadable eraser competition was dead-in-the-water so the skull is apropos. Great skull! Love the goofy eyes!
She is just so cute! Lovely sketch - and scary eraser - those eyes!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Alex, you keep doing such a wonderful job. This is just beautiful. I hope you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteAs already said, the detailing in her dress is just amazing. You really know how to pay attention to details. You can get a great sense of who your niece is simply by looking at this drawing. Excellent work, and keep it up.
ReplyDelete^^ Ps, I love the cute little skull head. XD
ReplyDeleteThe way you've captured the creases in her dress is amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Alex! What a fantastic portrait! And it's inside your sketchbook, which probably means you get to keep this one?
ReplyDeleteI love her adorable eyes and mouth! And you've rendered her hair superbly! And of course, the dress, but that's been said!
The skeleton is great! I haven't done anymore sculptures after the humiliating defeat by Dan! LOL
What a sweetie, I can see why it would be so hard to be away from her. It is wonderful you can do these beautiful sketches of her. They change so fast but I believe you will be able to hang onto the memory of her at this age because of such concentrated effort in drawing her and absorbing every little detail of her adorableness. Great job and again I really appreciate you showing us the steps you take
ReplyDeleteAlex,
ReplyDeleteThe hair! The face! The dress! The eraser! All terrific...as usual!
What a pretty little girl! You did an amazing job capturing the wonder of the moment with this little one. And what a lucky girl to have an uncle that buys her beautiful dresses! I bet she feels like a princess :-)
ReplyDeleteAlex, you have a gift for drawing children.
ReplyDeleteAlex Hope you are feeling better. You've again included all the things that universally endear a child's portrait - the bit of snuggly neck , the crook of the elbow, little fingers, and tiny sandaled foot. She is quite the model for her very talented uncle.
ReplyDeleteYour niece is so cute !!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tanna ^^ It means a lot to me.
ReplyDeleteJason, she really is! You should go and visit her sometimes ya know, since you're only 30 minutes away :)
Very lovely portrait Alex.. It is so nice how you capture children's lovely expressions!! I am scared to try out kids..
ReplyDelete@Skull.. LOL.. I LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!! LOL..

ReplyDeletewhat can I add? Superb portrait!
ReplyDeleteI like the details, reflection of fruits, texture of the dress fabric.
