Plunge (by Alex)

I've been listening to everyone, and I took Raena's advice of simply sketching a scene that I like from the movies that I've been watching. So I did just that, I was watching Live Free Die Hard 4.0, and that's the scene where Bruce Willis was leaping off a crashing F35 plane on the right, and after that I just drew something that resembles a face, and probably in flame or something, maybe he's angry, and he's not young too, I am not sure what I was drawing, but then perhaps I was inspired by the video game called Metal Gear Solid. I have never been a fan in that game but I thought the art was awesome. And then I just decided that I needed a lot of colors, so this messy piece is the result.
It's obviously doing a soul searching piece, I can't say I am happy nor I am not happy with it, it's just something that came up at that time, at that moment, out of randomness.

Thank you so much everyone for your encouragement, I really really appreciate them. I'll keep trying, and I'll try to isolate or channel my anxiety into my sketchbook, either way I know that I'll be fine. I am sorry that I've been ranting and caused worries.

When you look back into the sketch after some time, you are going to be proud of it, for sure... trust me ;)

  3. The face is remarkable - at first I didn't see it - seemed like background colors to the jump and the plane. Then suddenly it was there. Very creative - you are definitely exercising those your artistic muscles, and that's what you need, I think. This could be like the transition from Gandolf the Grey to Gandolf the White, eh? And he had to battle a demon in the depths. You've got it easy, only internal demons to fight with. ;)

  4. Alex; Good for you! You were able to create when you were not motivated to do so! That is a very difficult task to do! You conquered it though! Sometimes it's better to not have a plan and just dive in! I love the colors you chose for the face - sparks of emotions embedded in the rich vibrant (angry-fierce) color. Very well done!

  5. Gotta say I am absolutely wild about your 'face' - all that structural learning you've done in your pencil sketches served you well in this amazing riot of color, and your instincts are spot-on with those. Wow, Alex, I want to see more color from you when you are ready to play. Wow.

  6. Alex, thank you for the welcome and your nice comment on my blog! I like looking through your sketches and seeing the various stages of your process. And good for you for drawing while watching a movie. It's something I've been wanting to do also ~ it's probably good practice for drawing people on the move. Haven't gotten myself to do that yet and I want to. I like the action you caught on Bruce! Great job!

  13. I LOVE the colors you chose for that face!! Very creative! Sorry I haven't been around to comment, I've had a full house! Fifteen people crammed into our house. And ten coming next weekend!

Glad you decided to give it a go! I think this is a wonderful result and hopefully it helped you relax! Not everything need be a "finished" drawing!

  15. Interesting result. I like 'desperate' art, because it really doesn't matter what you do, what matters is that you do something and you feel good at the end (and your real you at the moment shows up). The face for example, is probably representing your anxiety at the moment... well, that was my psycology insight of 9:52 a.m. ;)
