Coffee (by Alex)

First of all, I want to wish everyone a belated HAPPY NEW YEAR and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I know it's late and all but things couldn't get any more hectic with wedding preparation and all the paperwork in the way. It's a major transition for me (and yes Raena, I am here ^^)
I've missed out all of your work, and I will soon have a lot of time to spare while waiting for the government to get things done before I could get employed. Hopefully during this time I'd be able to look through the 2 months of work that I've missed from you guys.

I drew this when I was in still in Germany, and it's the last drawing I did there and last year. I just didn't have anything to do while in the cramped hotel room, so I walked to the nearest McDonald's and ordered a major cup of coffee and started drawing in public for the 2nd time =)

Thank you so much everyone for all your comments for the cat I drew. I really miss you guys and I hope I am not forgotten.

  6. Alex, welcome back! Have you settled in yet? You've been much missed. I know you moved, but not where to. And - wedding talk - are you getting married?

I love the shadows on your coffee cup and absolutely enthralled with your spoon reflections!

  11. Welcome back, Alex. I too noticed your absence. I guess your personality had crept into my consciousness without me even realising it! Are you getting married? (me too!) Many congrats :)
That is a brilliant drawing- especially made in public. I bet there were many admiring glances over your shoulder in McD's!
Und ein jutes neues Jahr to you too!

  14. ALEX! So glad you're back! Almost commented again yesterday, and my mom asked me just this morning about you (she reads your blog now too, loves your work)! So, you got married just after the new year?

Wonderful sketch! I've never been to a McDonald's that used real dishes before! Ours all use paper cups!

    You were missed!

  15. You are married now or just getting ready? It sounds as if you took the big step so I'll say congratulations, "Congratulations Alex"!

Great coffee cup. I wonder why we don't get real cups. We get paper cups!

  16. Welcome Back!!!!! You have been missed. Not just your art, but you and your wonderful comments. I just have started again reading the postings myself the past couple of days. I have been busy and did not particpate over the holidays. Again, welcome back.

  17. Welcome back Alex! :) You have been missed. I enjoyed the light and shadow you have put in your cup. I hadn't seen the cat drawing until just now. I love it! You captured the softness and fluffiness of it. It reminds me of my own kitty. Hard to believe it is your first cat drawing.
    Take care.

  18. I thought you were gone forever - swallowed into the new world of matrimony! Welcome back - so glad you are posting again! I, for one, will wait for you as long as I have to. Like your cup - obviously in Germany McDonald's coffee cups are much fancier than here. Very professional drawing.

  19. Hi Alex!
It's nice to see you again :) Congratulations on the wedding, I hope the best for you in this new step of life...
I love the McCup :), I can see you're ALSO good at still life. And sketching in front of people, that's hard at first, isn't it, but you'll get used to it soon, I promise!
    Best regards,
    Carolina

  22. Hi Alex! Welcome back to EDM! Wait, are you getting married or are you already married? Congratulations!! And are in the US? Where? Goodness, we've missed you! Anyway, love the McD's coffee cup! How was the coffee? Probably not as good as your drawing!

  23. Thank you so much for your response and I am glad I am not forgotten ^^. Come to think of it, there are more than 2billion chinese in the whole planet, so to be remembered is definitely a privilege to me =)
To make things simple, I'll just answer Trish's questions:-
    1. Yes I am married, just married for 19 days.
    2. Yes I am in Louisiana right now.
    3. Yes I have been missing EDM and drawing during these time too but I couldn't do much about it because I had to prepare for the wedding.
    4. McD's coffee is actually not bad. They are usually cheaper that those you get from Starbucks. At McCafe, you're paying for cushy sofa, nice music and dimmed lightings with music videos, a good place to have a relaxing chit chat with friends.
^^ But I was alone, that's why I was able to draw
