First of all, I want to wish everyone a belated HAPPY NEW YEAR and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I know it's late and all but things couldn't get any more hectic with wedding preparation and all the paperwork in the way. It's a major transition for me (and yes Raena, I am here ^^)
I've missed out all of your work, and I will soon have a lot of time to spare while waiting for the government to get things done before I could get employed. Hopefully during this time I'd be able to look through the 2 months of work that I've missed from you guys.
I drew this when I was in still in Germany, and it's the last drawing I did there and last year. I just didn't have anything to do while in the cramped hotel room, so I walked to the nearest McDonald's and ordered a major cup of coffee and started drawing in public for the 2nd time =)
Thank you so much everyone for all your comments for the cat I drew. I really miss you guys and I hope I am not forgotten.

I have been thinking about you, especially lately. It's so good to hear from you and I am glad everything is going well (I hope). Wonderful to see your work again. It's a great drawing and how brave of you for sketching in public! Well done!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Alex. Missed you and glad that you are back to EDM. I assume that means you are also now officially in the States.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you back here again!
ReplyDeleteHi Alex,
ReplyDeletereally nice to see your drawings and you back.
No paper cup at McDonald in Germany?
I am looking forward to see your outdoor sketches of your new town, happy new year!
I'm so glad you're back, Alex. I've been wondering what happened to you! I like your coffee cup drawing very much. Happy New Year and congratulations! nancy
ReplyDeleteAlex, welcome back! Have you settled in yet? You've been much missed. I know you moved, but not where to. And - wedding talk - are you getting married?
ReplyDeleteI love the shadows on your coffee cup and absolutely enthralled with your spoon reflections!
Welcome back again!

Welcome back, Alex. I too noticed your absence. I guess your personality had crept into my consciousness without me even realising it! Are you getting married? (me too!) Many congrats :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a brilliant drawing- especially made in public. I bet there were many admiring glances over your shoulder in McD's!
Und ein jutes neues Jahr to you too!
Definitely not forgotten. Lovely sketch. Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to start a Sunday: I just woke up, looked at my email and there it was: the everydaymatters newsletter AND coffee! Happy New Year Alex! All the best for the new life you are starting :)
ReplyDeleteALEX! So glad you're back! Almost commented again yesterday, and my mom asked me just this morning about you (she reads your blog now too, loves your work)! So, you got married just after the new year?
ReplyDeleteWonderful sketch! I've never been to a McDonald's that used real dishes before! Ours all use paper cups!
You were missed!
You are married now or just getting ready? It sounds as if you took the big step so I'll say congratulations, "Congratulations Alex"!
ReplyDeleteGreat coffee cup. I wonder why we don't get real cups. We get paper cups!
Welcome Back!!!!! You have been missed. Not just your art, but you and your wonderful comments. I just have started again reading the postings myself the past couple of days. I have been busy and did not particpate over the holidays. Again, welcome back.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Alex! :) You have been missed. I enjoyed the light and shadow you have put in your cup. I hadn't seen the cat drawing until just now. I love it! You captured the softness and fluffiness of it. It reminds me of my own kitty. Hard to believe it is your first cat drawing.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
I thought you were gone forever - swallowed into the new world of matrimony! Welcome back - so glad you are posting again! I, for one, will wait for you as long as I have to. Like your cup - obviously in Germany McDonald's coffee cups are much fancier than here. Very professional drawing.
ReplyDeleteHi Alex!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see you again :) Congratulations on the wedding, I hope the best for you in this new step of life...
I love the McCup :), I can see you're ALSO good at still life. And sketching in front of people, that's hard at first, isn't it, but you'll get used to it soon, I promise!
Best regards,
Carolina
Alex, wishing you and your bride an abundance of all good things. Yes indeed, you've been missed - your art and your thoughts! Welcome home.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your latest comment, had me glowing with pride! ;D Oh, by the way, my anniversary is also Jan 2nd, only, I'm fifteen years ahead of you!
ReplyDeleteI haven't forgotten you Alex.
ReplyDeleteHi Alex! Welcome back to EDM! Wait, are you getting married or are you already married? Congratulations!! And are in the US? Where? Goodness, we've missed you! Anyway, love the McD's coffee cup! How was the coffee? Probably not as good as your drawing!

Thank you so much for your response and I am glad I am not forgotten ^^. Come to think of it, there are more than 2billion chinese in the whole planet, so to be remembered is definitely a privilege to me =)
ReplyDeleteTo make things simple, I'll just answer Trish's questions:-
1. Yes I am married, just married for 19 days.
2. Yes I am in Louisiana right now.
3. Yes I have been missing EDM and drawing during these time too but I couldn't do much about it because I had to prepare for the wedding.
4. McD's coffee is actually not bad. They are usually cheaper that those you get from Starbucks. At McCafe, you're paying for cushy sofa, nice music and dimmed lightings with music videos, a good place to have a relaxing chit chat with friends.
^^ But I was alone, that's why I was able to draw
Welcome back! I seen your post on another blog and thought he's back. Congratulations
ReplyDeleteGood to have you back! Congratulations on being a married man, hope you had a great day and a great wedding (and congratulations to the bride as well!).
ReplyDeleteYou are not forgotten!
I was only just getting to know you and your artwork when you flew away for your wedding!! Hope you had a wonderful time and looking forward to seeing more and more new pieces of art!
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic! My favorite subject matter too. Your drawings are so amazing, Alex.
