Katze (by Alex)

This is my first drawing of a cat, and it too will be given away as part of the deal I've made. It can also be considered as my first sale perhaps, but I don't think of it that way. I was racing against time with this one(2-3hours), as I will have to settle a lot of things in this and perhaps next week as well, and I'll lose my internet connection in less than a week time so I might not be posting anytime soon.

I'd like to take some space here to thank everyone for your generosity, for visiting the site, for looking at my drawings, for leaving comments and for your precious time. Every little words every little gesture helps in keeping the motivation level up, and I am really glad that I've known so many wonderful souls from EDM. It has to be the best group I've joined EVER. ^^ With much respect, and much gratitude I bow down to everyone in the group. Thank you very much!

  2. Gosh, that is the CUTEST kitty I've ever seen, besides my cats, that is :-). I'm impressed that it only took you a couple of hours or so. Was it sleeping in a round bed?

Alex, thank you so much for your thoughtful comment regarding losing my Siwa. I am still sad but I know I made the right decision and she was ready to go. And thanks for sharing your story of Tyson. It reminds me that the bond we share with our animal companions is timeless.

I bow to you in gassho.

  3. This is stunning! And it reminds me of my sweet boy, Marvin, whom I've had for 4 months now! That's what he looks like all snug in his bed before one of his furry brothers pounces on him!

  6. Thank you so much Ann for all your wishes ^^ 2 weeks isn't a long one. I'll have a week to draw after that..and I'd be busy until mid-January again. And then it'd be full time drawing perhaps :)
@Trish, it was sleeping on a tiny mattress in box with furry round opening. You're very welcome and I am glad you like my version of story and experience with dogs too. I was still thinking of him just now, after reading your comment. I need to go back where he was laid, I haven't seen him for 7-8 years now.
@Angie & YumYum, thank you so much for your comments ^^
@Tanna, yep we will get one soon enough ne, and of course we could draw together. Thanks ;)

  11. I am so happy for you Alex! You and Tanna will soon be together! Does Tanna sketch too? Does she have a blog? If not, you really need to get her in here!

This is a beautiful sketch. It amazes me what you can crank you in 2-3 hours! It seems like I've seen cats everywhere lately. In fact, I've done some of my mother's cat, which looks very similar to this one. (the cat, not the sketch...yours is way better!) I'll have to get that posted! And I completely agree, this group is the best ever! I would usually have hit a plateau and quit by now!

  24. Well done! It's a great piece, I just want to reach out and touch that soft fur (and it makes me want to get a cat again, they are such great animals). I just can't quite figure out the cat's pose - is it curled up inside a basket or something?

I really hope I will be able to do drawings like yours some day!

  26. And I bow to you. (Hope I didn't miss you - I've been out of the loop lately - real life intrudes).

Beautiful cat. I love that relaxed expression. Funny how they get in these places, and always seem to fit!

    Thanks for the birthday wishes!

I have to add that I was trying to do a triple portrait today. It was a worthwhile exercise - everything in the garbage is a step closer to success. But it makes me appreciate what you did in your last post even more. ;)
