Rejected Wedding Invitation Card Ideas #1 (by Alex)

As I told a few people that I'd be busy designing my own Wedding Invitation card for these couple of weeks, and that I'd also try to post something each week at least.. so here it is ^^

I am still working on the card, and I am planning to create several layouts so that we could see which is better and pick the right one. I'm still very new with the Open Source software "Inkscape" which I am using. It's not as powerful as Adobe Illustrator, but hey...it's free and it gets the job done :) So it might take another week or two, but I hope you'll have patience. I promise that once it is final and when the printing done, I'll post it up and share with everybody here. And in the meantime I'll just post things that I won't be using on the card. I am not using this because it's too cartoony.

Thank you so much for your comments and encouraging words in my previous post. James and Carine really like it, and they said they'll slot it into their wedding dinner presentation, so it will be in a big screen and my parents will be there too :) I am really happy that even I can't make it there, some part of me is still going to be present. Thanks James and Carine, and may you both silly bunnies live happily ever after just like in the fairy tales.

  1. It's cute though, maybe use this for something else besides the invites? I am sure you will come up with something wonderful and memorable for your invitations. Hubby and I just celebrated 25 years together - may you two enjoy that and many more :)

  2. Congratulations on the upcoming wedding! This is a great cartoon drawing - it really made me laugh. Seems like its more the invitation to the honeymoon than the wedding though. lol. I taught myself (my first mistake) Adobe Illustrator from a book. When I tried to use it to draw, it took so much longer than to do a sketch on paper. I'm sure it was my lack of experience and of a real teacher. I really am amazed that you can do such detail on a drawing in one of these programs without it taking until your 1st anniversary.

  5. Ann, WOW 25 years! Congratulations to you and your hubby too! Hahaha, I don't think we'll be using this for anything for the moment, it'll just sit nicely in my journal.

Dan, oh no, I didn't do this using the software. This is just the pencil sketch with inking done on it. :D The software design will come much later. But thanks for the compliments and kind wishes. I am glad the drawing entertained ^^

  6. I think it'd make a great thank you note. Congrats on the upcoming wedding - and marriage. Hope you two are as happy as my hubby and I have been the last nearly 15 years.

Thanks for stopping by my blog again and thanks for the encouragement. And oh yes - Maine is WAY more beautiful than I could ever depict it.

  8. Wow, that's great news about the featured spot your art will have in the presentation - wonderful. Keep drawing daily - even if it's not posted. Draw, draw, draw :-)

  9. I'd love to see you use this for something, it's far too cool to be rejected completely! Maybe for thank you cards or something? Good luck with the design, I'm looking forward to seeing the progress.

I so want to learn Illustrator, I even enrolled in a course that should have started a few weeks ago but it was cancelled due to not having enough students :( I'll have to pick up a good book and teach myself, I think.

  14. How romantic it is to be able to design for your own wedding invitation card. Btw, you can stop associate James and Carine with bunnies, b'cos they have chosen a pair of cute donkeys instead to decorate their wedding car lol:)
